Leeds close in on Luis Sinisterra

Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord for a club record fee, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Sinisterra s quality is believed to have attracted the attentions of many clubs, not only in England. Several months ago, he was strongly linked with Real Betis with reports in Spain suggesting an agreement was already in place for him to join Los Verdiblancos this summer, but those stories were quickly by reliable sources in his homeland of Colombia. Those sources did confirm Feyenoord s consideration of a summer sale, but no agreement had been struck with any club at the time.

The 23-year-old predominantly plays as a left winger but can do the job across the attacking line, was a product of Colombian side Once Caldas which he left to join …

The Stoke City goalkeeper was taken off on a stretcher shortly before half-time of England s 3-2 win in Berlin, after appearing to hurt himself while making a save.

Goals from Clement Lenglet and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg saw Tottenham come from behind to advance to the Champions League knockout stages with a 2-1 victory at Marseille on Tuesday.

Spurs knew a point in France would be enough to send them through, but Chancel Mbemba s powerful strike put them a goal down at half-time.

However, Lenglet nodded home from Ivan Perisic s set-piece shortly after the break before Hojbjerg smashed home in injury time to seal Spurs place in the next round.

The victory means Spurs finish as Group D winners as they reach the knockout stages of the competition for the first time since 2019-20.

The hosts started well in front of their vociferous fans, Alexis Sanchez nearly giving them an early lead with a header that flew just past the …

Wales fly past Finland to book a Euro 2024 play-off final date with Poland

Wales thrashed Finland 4-1 in Cardiff to set up a Euro 2024 play-off final with Poland.

First-half goals from David Brooks and Neco Williams put the hosts in cruise control and raised hopes of a stress-free evening for the vast majority of a sell-out Cardiff City Stadium crowd.

Teemu Pukki banished those thoughts on the stroke of half-time with his 40th Finland goal, but Brennan Johnson quickly restored Wales’ two-goal cushion after the break and substitute Daniel James rounded off matters late on.

Euro 2012 qualifying preview: Bulgaria v England

England will be looking for their first win in three matches when they travel to face Bulgaria in Friday s Euro 2012 qualifying.

Fabio Capello s England side were forced to settle for a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Switzerland in their last qualifier on June 4.

Prior to that, they played out a 1-1 draw in a friendly at home to Ghana on March 29, with their last win a 2-0 qualifying victory away to Wales three days earlier.

England remain top of Group G despite the two points dropped against Switzerland.

They are level on 11 points with Montenegro, who take on Wales in Cardiff on Friday, and cannot afford to slip up if they are to avoid surrendering top spot.

Capello has called on several youngsters who have impressed for their clubs early i…
