Jack Butland looks set to miss out on a place in England s Euro 2016 squad after it was confirmed he sustained a fractured ankle in Saturday s friendly against Germany.
The Stoke City goalkeeper was taken off on a stretcher shortly before half-time of England s 3-2 win in Berlin, after appearing to hurt himself while making a save.
Butland, who was standing in for injured first-choice keeper Joe Hart, was visibly hampered by the injury in conceding Toni Kroos opening goal.
Scans have now confirmed a fracture that appears certain to rule him out of the rest of the Premier League season, while also throwing his participation at the European Championship into major doubt.
Today s scan revealed I ve fractured my ankle, absolutely devasted! I ll be doing everything I can to get back fit as soon as I can!
